Champion Circle is a program designed by Give A Day Foundation for young men 15-19 to help equip and empower them to build a successful future. Our program focuses on 5 core values: Identity Discover, Career Development, Heath Awareness, Financial Identity and Volunteerism.
On Saturday afternoon, November 18, Mayor Gail Ash visited with our young champions. The young men took turns asking questions about concerns they had such as “is it possible to put some type of barrier between the basketball court and the water at waterfront park to help prevent the ball from going into the lake?” This raises two issues, safety for those who can’t swim and game delay especially when others are waiting to play on the court. Also, other more personal questions such as why did Mayor Ash run for office and how can one qualify to run.
We were honored to have Mayor Gail Ash spend the afternoon speaking with the young men. Showing she cares about their concerns for today and their future. Her words of wisdom will help shape their tomorrow. They left having a sense of dignity knowing they were able to spend some time with the Mayor of their city.
