Posted on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 8:48 am

The elves are busy this month at Cagan Crossings Library. The usual free events continue including children’s programming and activity groups for all ages. You can easily check the calendar by visiting www.mylakelibrary.org and selecting Cagan Library. You can also simply call the library at (352)243-1840. Add it to your contacts list. There will also be monthly schedules available at the circulation desk and Youth Services department. Please note any possible cancellations and closing dates for the holidays.
Several special events will occur at the library of interest to all ages. On Saturday, December 9 you can bring the children and grandkids to the 5th annual “Santa Meet ‘n Greet” from 10:00-12:30. This event is FREE and offers the little ones a fun craft, treats, and a visit with Santa. Please remember your camera! This event is sponsored by the Friends of Cagan Crossings Library. To complement the visit from Santa and offer a chance to pick up some extra stocking stuffers, the Friends are hosting an extra book sale also on December 9 from 9:00-1:30. All profit from these sales directly support library programs and services.
On Saturday, December 16 Cagan will host the Lake County Winter Chess Tournament. Registration is from 8:30-8:55, and the competition begins at 9:00. This is a USCF-sanctioned event. A free tournament that does not require membership will be held at the same time. For more information and details, please contact Herb Pilgrim at (352)396-1006 or librarychessclub@yahoo.com. Information will also be available at www.mylakelibrary.org under “Programs and Events”.
On Monday, December 18 you can take a break from last-minute shopping and enjoy a healthy lunch or dinner at Panda Express at 2591 US 27 in Clermont. This “DIne to Donate” outing was arranged by the Friends of the Library and runs from 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. 20% of your purchase will be donated to the Friends. Flyers are available at the library so have one to show the cashier. You can use a paper or digital version or online enter 238128 in the promo code box during checkout.
The library and the Friends wish to extend a special welcome back to our “snowbird” visitors. To all our patrons, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season!
