      If you have scraps or balls of yarn that you no longer need, consider donating them to our knitting/crochet club. We are an active group that creates newborn/preemie hats and lap blankets for local hospitals, and our yarn stock is becoming low. We meet every Thursday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Cagan Crossings Library, 16729 Cagan Oaks, Clermont, FL 34714.
      If you have yarn to share, please drop it off at the library during open hours and ask for Claudia Piper. Thanks you for your kind generosity.

      You spat in a tube, you mailed it off, and you got that email. Your DNA results are ready, Now What? Allison Ryall can help you learn the ins and outs of how to understand your DNA results.
      What is a Haplogroup? How many chromosomes? What is a centimorgans, and what does all this mean? Come decipher what your DNA says about you and your matches.
      Allison, a Librarian with Orange County Library System and a Professional Genealogist will be presenting at Cooper Memorial Library, room 108. Room opens at 4:30PM, presentation from 5pm-7pm, Thursday, September 13th, 2018.

    1. Free Basketball Clinic
      10:00 am – 2:00 pm

      Coach Kevin Boyle and his Nationally renowned US #1 ranked Montverde Academy Boys Varsity Basketball Team will be conducting a free basketball skills clinic for boys/girls grades 3-12 at Montverde Academy School on Saturday September 15, 2018 10:00am-2:00pm. All skill levels from beginner to advanced welcome! The clinic will be conducted by the entire MVA coaching staff and basketball team players .
      Coach Boyle finished his 2017-2018 season finishing #1 in HS basketball in the US winning his 4th national championship in NYC. He was Coach of the Year for 2018 for USA Today, Naismith and Max Preps. He has conducted camps and clinics for the last 29 years in the US as well as Internationally.
      The Clinic will begin at 10:00am but if you can’t join until a little later -no problem! Stop in anyway and we will get you involved in the activity. You will learn how to practice on your own and skill development. Players will get to scrimmage in a game scenario and work with all coaches on the various components of basketball. There will be raffle tickets available for purchase for drawings for free summer basketball camp as well as free NIKE basketball gear and free t-shirt giveaways! Any and all donations accepted at the door will benefit Special Olympics Florida. Suggested donations: $5.00- $25.00. There will be a concession available for drinks and snacks during the clinic.       The Market is held in our lovely Railroad Park, located across the street from our Public Library and City Hall. There you will find vendors with competitive prices, offering fresh produce, crafts, hot food and products year round.

    2. GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman’s Club Meeting
      11:30 am – 12:30 pm

      The first general meeting of GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman’s Club for the 2018-2019 year is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Tradewinds Restaurant at Bahama Bay Resort, 400 Gran Bahama Boulevard, just off Florence Villa Grove Road near US 27 in Davenport. Buffet lunch is served at 11:30am (reservations are necessary); the general meeting begins at noon. Guests are welcome at all general meetings.
      Get in on the ground floor! The club is implementing a reorganization with new committee structures and responsibilities. Members will be discussing programs, projects, and activities for the coming year. The group will also be planning the 10th annual charity fashion show, luncheon, and expo to be held at Lake Eva Event Center in Haines City on Friday, February 1, 2019. The club is scouring the local community for sponsors, prize donors, and exhibitors. Over 200 women residing in the Four Corners area of Polk, Osceola, Lake, and Orange counties attended the event last year. The prime beneficiary of this year’s fashion show will be Book Heroes, which donates books to children who may not otherwise have them in their homes. Heather’s Hope, The Green Bag Project, The Way Center, Relay for Life, Lighthouse Ministries, The Humane Society of Polk County, Polk Education Foundation, Education Foundation of Osceola County, Polk Sheriffs Charities Inc, East Coast Migrant Head Start Program (La Familia Center), and Hacienda Girls’ Ranch were beneficiaries of past fundraising events and may benefit from planned activities this year.

      Sigma Phi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha is hosting another BUNCO for a Cause raising funds and awareness for St. Jude children’s research, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.
