Gospel Concert

They Hyssongs will be presenting a concert of gospel music Saturday, February 23rd, starting at 7 p.m. at Florida Camp Inn, in Davenport, 4 miles north of I-4 on Hwy 27. Admission is $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
The Hyssons perform at more than 225 events each year. They minister in churches, auditoriums, on gospel singing cruises, as well as on radio and TV.

Lake Wales Art Festival

The Lake Wales Arts Council is proud to announce that the Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival 2019! This annual tradition has been showcasing top artists and artisans for 47 years and we look forward to another spectacular event. There will be lots of fun and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, and the Festival makes an excellent day trip destination from anywhere in Central Florida. The festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 23-24.
The festivities commence with an Art-B-Que Kickoff Party on Friday night, February 22. This is a chance to celebrate art and music with good food and friends on the shores of Lake Wales. After the initial Kickoff, the Festival begins at 10 AM Saturday, February 23, and runs until 5 PM. Then on Sunday it takes place from 10 AM to 4 PM. It all comes together in the serene setting On the Shores of Lake Wales, 33 North Lake Shore Blvd., Lake Wales, FL 33853. Admission to the Festival is free, and so is parking. RV parking is available at the Methodist Church, in the grassy area.
As you’re strolling about, enjoying the ambiance of some of Florida’s premiere artists and crafts people, enjoying the unique exhibits, be sure to catch the live entertainment from 10-5 on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday (performance schedule to be announced soon).
The Citizens Bank & Trust Lake Wales Arts Festival 2019 is guaranteed to be a fun, wholesome activity that the whole family can enjoy. There will be food trucks, fun for the kids, and a student art show. Lake Wales is a lovely town to visit, and this makes a wonderful day trip for anyone living in or visiting the Central Florida area.

Read Across America Day

March is Read Across America month with March 1 being Read Across America day. Come celebrate with Read to Sydney’s Reading and Learning Center. 4:00 to 8:00 at West Oaks Mall near JCPennys. Snacks and books will be given to all the children who attend.

The Clermont Downtown Partnership continues to host exciting new Downtown Clermont First Friday Food Truck events with the next one planned for Friday night March 1 from 5:30 to 9 PM. With a live band, food trucks, special vendors for shopping, entertainment, a Kid’s Zone, a Rock Climbing Wall and vintage cars, there will be something for everyone! Many of the downtown shops will remain open late.
TC Scott and the awesome TropRockers Band will be featured with a free concert in City Hall Park. Bring your sweaters, blankets and lawn chairs. A dozen delicious food trucks and assorted popular vendors will be on the downtown Clermont streets. Many area Clermont Downtown Partnership stores will remain open late that evening until 9 PM. This event is being sponsored by the Clermont Downtown Partnership, Hometown Accents and the City of Clermont.

How to start genealogy – free beginners class

How to Start Genealogy; a FREE Beginners Class
Classes meet on March 6th and 20th, 10:00 am at Cooper Memorial Library, upstairs in the Genealogy Room. Come early to get a seat, doors open at 8am.
Start your journey to find your past – please bring what you know (family names, dates and places – parents, grandparents, and other known relatives).
Beginner classes in Genealogy are held twice a month at Cooper Memorial Library. These classes are designed to introduce you to the science of genealogy.
> How to gather information you already have
> How to compile that information so it makes sense and organized
> How to start digging for more information
> The different places to continue your research.
It is very important that you come to both classes and that you attend them in order. The 1st Wednesday is starting Class and the class on the 3rd Wednesday continues your research. If you already have some information from someone else who started a tree, you can continue their work with a little help in getting started.

37th Annual Art Show

VW Bug Parade!

To celebrate the 50 Year Anniversary, www.herbies50yrreunion.com, since the release of Disney’s Herbie The Love Bug in theaters around the world, a local group of individuals who actually own Herbie’s will be coming into the area to celebrate.
On March 15th in the morning, the cars will be cruising (35-40 cars) from Disney to Clermont, setting up for photo ops at various places, having a picnic lunch, etc. The cars will be at Showcase of Citrus from 10-10:30 a.m., at Victory Pointe between 10:45 and 11:10 and at Lake Hiawatha Preserve for lunch between 12:00 and 12:55. The cars will travel down Anderson Hill Road around 1:45-2:15 p.m.
We also are going to be showing The Love Bug on a giant drive-in movie screen down at the new Dezer Action Park on International Drive starting around 7:30. All VW’s are welcome but there will be a $10/car fee.
This is a great opportunity for the public to view the cars and/or talk to the owners. It will be great fun to see this group of iconic cars traveling in a group!

Estate-Garage Sale

The Clermont Woman’s Club is holding a large Estate-Garage Sale as a fund raiser to help promote the many charities we support. The sale will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Clubhouse, 655 W. Broome Street in Clermont. Funds raised will be used for scholarships for our local high school students, the Stock in Children Program, and other worthy programs.
