Quality of Care is Our #1 Priority
By Nelson M Pichardo MD
In these fast-paced times even healthcare has taken a drift towards
'rapid medicine.' Many physicians' offices are faced with the
dilemma of how much time to spend with the patients versus the
increased cost of providing the service and decreasing insurance
reimbursements.
At the Pichardo Clinic "Quality of Care" is our number
ONE priority. Volume of patients is not our main focus. Our
schedules are designed to allow us to see patients within
24 hours or same day if they have an emergency. Our mission
is "to provide our patients with the care they need at
the time they need it."
Many technological advances have occurred to make our facility
the best equipped and well prepared to serve you. Since early
2005, we have implemented an electronic medical record system.
It stores patient data in our computers, integrates with diagnostic
devices, i.e. EKG, Holter Monitors, and Spirometries, among
others; it also interfaces with major lab companies: LABCORP
and QUEST, and is able to E-prescribe, or send your RX directly
to the pharmacies' computer. There is no longer any need to
worry about lost charts or faxes, wrong prescriptions and
laboratory results, because they are now sent electronically.
All of this enables us to help deliver a higher quality of
care to our patients.
We also believe in preventive and proactive care as the solution
to improving people's quality of life. We make sure that our
patients have a preventive care program in place and we are
proactive in teaching them and reminding them to ensure it
is accomplished. We create health awareness by providing one-on-one
counseling, doing automatic reminders for patient annual screening
tests, providing resources and links to educational programs
in our website and directing educational material via email.
We are planning several patient informational presentations, diabetes
and hypertension education and support groups, patient health
conference in the fall, among others. For more information about
these events, please visit us at www.pichardoclinic.com.We welcome
new patients that would like to become part of our Pichardo Clinic
Community. It is our quality healthcare, technology and compassion
combined that we provide to all of our patients. You can find
us at 111 Webb Drive, Davenport, FL 33837 or call us at 863-421-9447.
We look forward to serving you and our community.By Nelson M Pichardo
