"ReSTOR Can Truly Restore Your
Vision," says Dr. Hanzlik
We are all trying to have perfect vision without glasses. Dr. Hanzlik
would like to present the breakthrough new intraocular lens implant,
ReSTOR by Alcon, with its unique abilities. When placed inside the
eye, this lens allows focusing on both distant and near objects
equally well. This lens has no moving parts and maintains its
abilities indefinitely. Due to high-tech design, this lens contains
circular areas producing clear images on the retina of the eye.
When used in both eyes, these lenses allow the ability to
see clearly the road signs, as well as read newspaper print.
Who can benefit from these new lenses? One of the uses for these
lenses is for patients undergoing cataract surgery. Conventional
lenses allow either distance or near vision for each eye. ReSTOR
lenses allow near and distance vision in each eye. This results
in better depth perception at near and far. Approximately
80%-90% of patients report complete independence of glasses.
Another significant group benefiting from ReSTOR lenses are patients
interested in good vision without glasses. Patients in this group
have a large degree of near or far sightedness. These patients
frequently ask about LASIK laser vision correction. LASIK works
well, but usually corrects only distance vision. This means
patients over forty usually need reading glasses. If LASIK
is used to improve reading vision, it actually decreases distance
vision. Lens implantation with ReSTOR lenses can provide correction
for both distance and near in each eye, greatly improving
overall quality of vision and independence from glasses.
Surgical procedure to remove the natural lens in the eye (cataract)
and place the new ReSTOR lens takes only about ten minutes and is
followed by rapid recovery of vision. Dr. Hanzlik performs the
cataract/lens removal surgery with intraocular lens implantation
at Celebration Health and Heart of Florida Hospital. Consultations
and evaluations regarding cataract surgery and ReSTOR lens
implantations are performed at Celebration and Davenport offices.
