The May 2016 general meeting and luncheon for GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman’s Club will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Tradewinds Restaurant at Bahama Bay Resort and Spa, 400 Gran Bahama Blvd., Davenport 33897 (just off Route 27 near the intersection of US 192 in Davenport).
Everyone is invited to the monthly general meeting. Lunch begins at 11:30AM; the general meeting follows.
Veronica Kerst from Heather’s Hope Foundation will be the guest speaker. The foundation’s mission is to promote awareness and prevention of domestic violence through education and public service. Read about the foundation at www.heathershope.net.
The slate of officers for 2016-2017 was presented by the Nominating Committee at the April general meeting and elections will be held at this meeting. The slate includes: Kris Duncan, President; Toni Heymann, 1st Vice President; Cheryl Gibson, 2nd Vice President; Lexa Comstock, Recording Secretary; Doris Larson, Corresponding Secretary; Barbara Deel, Treasurer.
Activities for the past month involved clubwomen volunteering at the Sunshine Foundation’s Chili Cookoff Spring Fair on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village in Davenport. Also, several members have been working with Junior Achievement as volunteer instructors for local Kindergarten children.
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is an international organization with more than 4,000 clubs and over 100,000 members across the country. The local chapter, GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman’s Club, a non-profit organization, reaches out to the Four Corners community of Polk, Osceola, Lake and Orange counties through volunteerism and charitable donations.
