Pastfinders Genealogical Society
Friday, September 23, 2011
Pastfinders will meet Thursday October 13, 2011, 5-7 p.m. in Room 108 at the Cooper Memvorial Library in Clermont.
Our featured speaker is Tony Ledford of Mt. Dora who tells us of himself, "My Native name given me by an elder is Wolf of Thunder. I am of Cherokee descent Wolf Clan with Cherokee being in direct lines on my Dad's side & Mother's side. I was taught the old ways, some stories, history, living off the land. I have a lot of cousins that live in Cherokee N.C. & also in Talequah Oklahoma. I would like to speak not only of searching for ancestry but also a little about the Native beliefs & the Removal Era, and then have a question and answer time. Our Family group puts on a big Pow Wow in Mt. Dora every year on the first weekend in March. 2012 will be our 9th year. I have done numerous talks at schools, some churches & to veterans groups."
Guests and interested visitors are most welcome to attend.
