GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman's Club 3rd Annual Fashion Show A Success

There was a sellout crowd for the GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman's Club 3rd Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon at ChampionsGate(R) Golf Club on Saturday, November 5, 2011. "Fall Fling" featured clubwomen, Libby Baker, Frances Kane, Jo Tomasulo, and Sally Wolff, along with friends Lexa Comstock, Sue Gaddone, Cheryl Gibson, Barbara Schefick, Ronnie Wille, and Ann Williams, as models. Chico's of Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves sponsored the fashions. Teresea McPherson of Chico's provided commentary on the fashions and included several tips and tricks. Former GFWC Four Corners JWC board member Leah Turner emceed the event. Ms. Turner is Chief Marketing Officer for Turner Time Consulting in Tampa. Ms. Turner kept the pace quick and the mood light during the raffle of many baskets and prizes donated by local businesses and concerned residents. The proceeds from the fashion show, the Club's primary fundraising event of the year, supports several charitable functions: The Green Bag Project provides weekend meals for schoolchildren; a partnership with Kids Need To Read purchases books for students at Loughman Oaks Elementary School; a scholarship for a local high school senior through Polk Education Foundation; the Humane Society of Polk County runs a no-kill shelter; The Way Home in Haines City provides shelter and education for women and children in need. Clubwoman, BJ Flowers, organized the event with the help of all members.

The November general meeting on Wednesday, November 16, was an outing to Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. Members enjoyed a luncheon at the Blue Palmetto Cafe and a leisurely walk through the gardens in the afternoon.

The December general meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 14, 11:30am at Community of Faith Church in Davenport. Clubwomen are bringing donations of wrapped gifts for their holiday family to the meeting place. After the meeting, members are traveling to lunch at Chili's in ChampionsGate.
