AARP Chapter 5199 Christmas and New Year Celebrations

"We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year" was the message brought to the December 14, AARP Lakes and Hills Chapter holidays celebration by the festive Kings Ridge Singers. This acclaimed Clermont chorus is directed by Peggy Lantz and is accompanied by Jane Wiegand on the piano. The spinet piano was donated to the Kehlor community building for the occasion and future events by Jean Swope, with assistance of the City of Clermont, who provided transport.
Members brought gifts of food goods, which were collected and delivered to the Faith Neighborhood Center pantry by Vera Wilson, a volunteer at the Center on behalf of AARP Officers elected to guide the AARP chapter in 2012 were: president, Mary Black; vice-president, Doris Wilson; secretary, Nancy Hendrix and treasurer, Vera Wilson.
The next meeting of the AARP chapter will feature Lauren Ritchie, the well known and highly respected editor and provocative columnist for the Lake edition of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. Ritchie, a native of Pennsylvania, is a long-time observer and commentator on the Lake political and social scene. She will share her thoughts on what we may anticipate for Central Florida and Lake County over the next decade. Guests and members will be welcome and refreshments will be served at this Welcome to 2012 meeting on Wednesday, January 4, 1:00 PM at the Kehlor Bldg. (Minneola and 5th Sts.) in Clermont.
