One Day Boating Safety Class May Save Your Life

Thursday, January 5, 2012

As Harris Chain Sail and Power Squadron (HCS) members, our goal is to promote safe boating on our waters and to ensure that every person is equipped with the knowledge needed to make responsible decisions behind the helm.

In order to achieve our goal we conduct Free Vessel Safety Check inspections. These inspections can identify missing or outdated safety items. We also offer a comprehensive variety of public boating education classes. Our popular, America's Boating Course, is State approved and required for any boater born after 1987. The State of Florida will issue a Boater ID Card upon satisfactory completion. In addition, we will also include a free trial membership in our organization for 6 months. This class also provides compliance for boating violations that require a Florida Form 238 to be completed.

The cost is $55 per person and $25 for each additional family member. This class will be held at the Lake Sumter Community College, Liberal Arts Building, in room #1 (9501 US Highway 441, Leesburg, Fl. 34788.) The class starts at 8 a.m. and runs until about 5 p.m. on January 21, 2012. Bring your lunch.
