A New Era in Heart and Stroke Emergency Treatment

Friday, May 13, 2011

We are pleased to announce some exciting news - Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center has joined forces with the University of Florida and Shands HealthCare to strengthen the level of cardiac and stroke services provided to our community. This week marks the debut of the Heart and Stroke Emergency Specialists program, making something that's already great even better.

Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center is a state-designated Stroke Center and a nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, placing it in the top one percent of hospitals across the country. By teaming up with UF and Shands, our community can feel even more confident that they will receive the finest level of cardiac and stroke care available to them.

As part of the Heart and Stroke Emergency Specialists program, physicians from UF and Heart of Florida will be visiting each other's facilities, sharing protocols and care processes. This is a team approach that will result in enhanced care, better outcomes and a better overall experience for patients.

UF and Shands has been looking to extend its programs beyond Gainesville and handpicked Heart of Florida based on outstanding patient care, processes and outcomes. This is a great day for patients, and all of Polk County and its surrounding communities, as two great caregivers join forces.
