Santa Fun Run/Walk

The South Lake Rotary Club announces the details of its annual fundraiser, the 5K Santa Fun Run/Walk for 2011, to be held on the bike trail along the shores of Lake Minneola in historic downtown Clermont, on December 10 @ 8AM. Last year the inaugural run saw over 200 runners, all dressed in Santa suits run for charity and this year the Rotary Club hopes for more than 400 runners. Children running in the shorter run will receive a free elve's hat. Monies raised will fund the Rotary Club's annual gifts to children's charities in the South Lake County area.

Registration packets can be secured by sending in the registration form (http://santafunrun.southlakerotary.com) along with the fee. The actual run will be administered by staff from the National Training Center as well as volunteer Rotarians. On-site registration will be at 7:30AM on the morning of the race near the City of Clermont's new waterfront Pavilion. Races will begin promptly at 8:30 AM. Prizes will be awarded after the races are completed for various age groups and area businesses and school groups are encouraged to form competing teams.

The Rotary Club is actively soliciting area restaurants and businesses for prize coupons and gift certificates to give away as prizes following the races. One of the winners from last year, Mrs. Cathy Foley, a phys ed teacher from Port Charlotte Florida stated this week in a note with her registration form, that she had so much fun last year running the race and then visiting with family from the area, that she couldn't wait to register to run again this year. And so the Rotary Club encourages all ages to attend the Santa Fun Run/Walk for 2011, cheer on the runners, have a warm drink and donut while you are watching and support the children of South Lake County with your financial support. Where else can you see 400 Santas having fun all at the same time?
