It's no fun to be in the hospital during the upcoming holidays, especially if you're a child. To bring some joy to these patients, elementary students at Lincoln Avenue Academy (LAA) in Lakeland are working on a project which will help put a smile on the face of some of these children who are hospitalized at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa.

Students from Julie Stone's classes are taking part in the "Art in Medicine Project" by creating the artwork and painting more than 100 multicolor tote bags, which will be filled with several art supplies and items for the children to use. These items include: crayons, pads of paper, pencils, markers, puzzles, coloring books, watercolor sets, and play dough.

The students at LAA are donating the art supplies to help fill the tote bags. The colorful tote bags will be delivered to the young patients at St. Joseph's in December, and hopefully make the holidays in the hospital a little bit more enjoyable.
