The October 2018 general meeting of GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman’s Club is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Tradewinds Restaurant at Bahama Bay Resort, 400 Gran Bahama Boulevard, just off Florence Villa Grove Road near US 27 in Davenport. Buffet lunch is served at 11:30am (reservations are necessary); the general meeting begins at Noon. Guests are welcome at all general meetings.
Member Jeanne Vollmar will have a presentation on Cyber Security.
There will also be a discussion regarding Book Heroes, a program that collects and donates books to children who may not otherwise have them in their homes. Children who have access to books at home and who are read to at home, consistently test better in all academic areas, and children from low income homes are at a distinct disadvantage that only increases with age. The goal of GFWC Florida clubs is to donate 10,000 books to children in Florida each year, for a total of 20,000 books by May 2020.
The Club continues planning for its 10th Annual Charity Fashion Show, Luncheon, and Expo to be held at Lake Eva Event Center in Haines City on Friday, February 1, 2019. The club is requesting local companies and businesses to become sponsors, prize donors, and exhibitors.
The Club is having a tasty fundraising event to which the public is invited. Visit Buffalo Buffalo Wild Wings, 3099 Formosa Gardens Blvd., Kissimmee, FL 34747, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 for a meal or snack between 11:00am and Midnight. Mention to your server that you would like your check included in the fundraiser. A percentage of your check will be donated to GFWC Four Corners Junior Woman’s Club to help fund charitable efforts in the Four Corners community. Buffalo Wild Wings created the Eat Wings, Raise Funds program that allows each of their restaurants to help raise funds for organizations in the local community.
