Ah, the best laid plans . . .
Haines City Community Theater had planned to present a play titled Ravenscroft as their April production. However, due to unforeseen circumstances that production has been replaced by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play Doubt, written by John Patrick Shanley.
It’s a drama from which the subject matter could be taken directly from news stories of the recent past. In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students. The play is set in 1964, and takes place mostly in the offices of a Catholic school. Questions arise. Has the sister overstepped her authority? Is she reading too much into the situation? Is Father Flynn guilty? There is much to “Doubt” and the audience is left to draw their own conclusions. The play will be presented on Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 from April 14th through the 29th. Please call (863) 421-1893 for reservations.
The cast is comprised of Dorinda Garrard as Sister Aloysius, Curt Whirl as Father Flynn, Rose Cambron as Mrs. Muller, and Alicia Bush as Sister James; and is directed by Jeanette Hughes.
