The holidays are a time full of joy and happiness. As we feel the pressure to do too much for too many, stress and guilt can set in quickly. Add to that the demands of caring for a loved one we can quickly become overwhelmed to the point of harming our own health.
“Caregiving can create a level of stress unlike anything else,” says Kathy McGuinness, Pastoral Care Coordinator at Blessed Sacrament. “Our goal is to help those caregivers with ways to better cope with this stress.”
Holiday Stress and Caregiving is a free workshop hosted at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on November 17, 2016. This workshop, 1:00-3:00 p.m., is specially designed for caregivers serving those with dementia. The afternoon will offer specific tips and techniques for surviving the hectic season.
Tom Rinkoski, who is a caregiver coach at Elder Options, the Mid-Florida Area Agency on Aging, is the featured presenter. Rinkoski is a Florida State Department of Elder Affairs Certified Dementia Educator. He is also nationally certified as a Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations.
