Visit our new historical exhibit about one community’s preservation, perseverance, and philanthropy, now through February 16, 2019.
This is the the story of Mountain Lake Estates, one of the oldest private golf and estate communities in the country, located in Lake Wales, Florida.
The exhibit will feature stories, photographs and original documents that highlight the development of Mountain Lake, stories about its founder, Frederick Ruth, the lifestyle of its residents and members, philanthropic contributions to the community, and the preservation of century old homes and architectural designs. Artifacts on display are on loan from the Mountain Lake archives, and items from the museum’s permanent collection. The exhibit was developed by the museum’s curator, Bartholomew Delcamp and director, Jennifer D’hollander.
The Lake Wales Museum and offices are open Tuesday – Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. The museum is located at 325 S. Scenic Highway in Lake Wales, 863.676.1759. Admission is free to the public.
