National Library Week

Posted on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 1:48 am

We will join libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating the many ways libraries are transforming their communities every day through the services and invaluable expertise they offer.
April 9-15 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians and library workers.  Libraries aren’t only a place of quiet study, but also creative and engaging community centers where people can expand their horizons.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
The Lake Wales Public Library will offer the opportunity to clear fines and fees by celebrating Food for Fines, April 10 through April 22.  “Pay” overdue fines with a donation of at least 5 non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Lake Wales Care Center’s Food Bank.
