I am writing this to let people with disabilities know there is more to life than sitting at home and feeling sorry about your disability and yourself. I know first hand as I am a 67 year old disabled senior citizen, who use to do just that. One day I met this lady that asked me if I ever thought about playing shuffleboard. Well I had on a cruise.
I have made many great friends and have appreciated every minute I play. It gets me out of the house and off my you know what and I feel like I am doing something worthwhile and a great way to exercise. Also a great way to relax, have fun and to meet great wonderful, pleasant people willing to make you feel welcome and great teachers and friends forever.
Even though I need a walker to play, I don’t use that as a an excuse to deter me from playing. So to all who are afraid to try something new, I invite you to come experience the pleasures and enjoyment I have. You don’t have to be disabled or a senior citizen to play so all are invited.
We invite anyone living in the area to join us any Tuesday or Friday at 1:00 p.m. or Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Kehlor Park 466 W. Minneola Avenue in Clermont. For more info call Jean at 352-242-9756 or Steve at 352-243-9498.
