Polk County Public Schools Announces Jacqueline Byrd as Interim Superintendent

The Polk County School Board has approved Jacqueline Byrd as the Interim Superintendent of Polk County Public Schools.
Mrs. Byrd, who has served as Deputy Superintendent, was sworn in during the School Board’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. She will serve in an interim capacity as the School Board conducts a search for a permanent Superintendent.
An educator for more than 25 years, Mrs. Byrd has served as a teacher and school principal, and is a former Chief of Schools for Duval County. She also was responsible for overseeing elementary turnaround schools in Duval.
Mrs. Byrd has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Florida and a master’s in educational leadership from Jacksonville University. She joined Polk County Public Schools as Deputy Superintendent in 2013.
