School Board Candidate Forum

Posted on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 1:56 am

The Polk Education Association and the Polk Education Association-Retired will be hosting a Polk County School Board Candidates Forum at 7 p.m. on July 24, 2018 in the Poolside Room at the Chain of Lakes Complex, 210 Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Winter Haven. All candidates are scheduled to appear. This will be an opportunity for voters to hear the candidates’ positions on key issues related to Public Education in Polk County. Each candidate will be given equal time to introduce themselves and state the reason they are seeking a seat on the School Board as well as answering questions.
Again, the candidates participating in the Forum include: District 3, Sara Fortney, Scott Jones, LaTrice Moore and Kala Ivy Tedder; District 5, Terry Clark, Kay Fields and Jennifer Sabin; District 6, Lynn Wilson; and District 7, David Byrd and Lisa Miller.
The School Board race is nonpartisan and though candidates must live in the district they desire to represent, all Polk County voters will vote on a candidate of their choice for each district on August 28. The School Board Seats are selected during Primary Election Balloting. If a runoff election is necessary it will be during the General Election in November.
