There’s North Dakota, South Dakota, and our very own Houndhaven Dakota! Say hello to our sweet lady, Dakota! This lovely girl was originally a member of Houndhaven when she was a mere six months old, but at 10 years of age, she finds herself back at Houndhaven hoping to score her forever home. Through no fault of her own, Dakota’s family was just not able to keep her any longer. While it can be overwhelming to be uprooted from one’s home, Dakota has been quite the trooper, plus we’ve promised her to find her a wonderful new home and family.
Dakota is a gentle yellow lab mix. While she is 10 years old, she’s still very young at heart. Dakota has been enjoying running around the play yard with her friends Boris, Penny, and Collins, and then coming inside to relax like the lady she is in her kennel. We think she would look lovely on a comfy sofa in her new home too. Dakota is housebroken, so no messes in the house, and is good with children, and even cats!
Dakota is a smart girl…she knows basic commands and was trained to run through obstacle courses. She’s not a big fan of baths, but we think it’s her way of telling us that a lady as lovely as herself doesn’t get dirty and stinky while playing with her friends. Dakota loves to get snuggles and loving from the volunteers, and is generous in sharing the kisses and snuggles in return.
If you’ve been looking for a new family member, one that has so many wonderful traits that combine spunky and easy going, smart and eager to please, young at heart and gets along with everyone…look no further. Dakota is your girl, and remember, age is just a number. Please visit www.houndhaven.org to review our adoption policies and procedures, and complete an application.
