Oklawaha Valley Audubon Society (OVAS) will host a special birding trip on Monday, January 22, 2018, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm with famous expert birder Greg Miller of “The Big Year” movie fame who will lead a Space Coast birding tour for OVAS. After a morning of birding at Shiloh Marsh in New Smyrna Beach they will have lunch at Norwood’s Treehouse Restaurant with Greg to hear tales of his travels and the making of the movie “The Big Year” with Jack Black. After lunch they will spend the afternoon birding at Frank Rendon Park in Daytona Beach which is famous for a variety of shore birds especially at this time of year which is peak season for migratory birds in Florida.
Space is limited to 15 people so please so sign up today. In both areas they will be walking/hiking approximately 1/2 mile at each location so please wear waterproof hiking shoes and bring binoculars, camera, warm clothes, bottled water, and a spotting scope. They will meet at the Shiloh Marsh entrance, Shiloh Marsh Road, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Volusia County, Florida, at (28.8002, -80.845). Cost: $30 Audubon members, $35 non-members.
