UF/IFAS Extension Program Helps Homeowners Create Florida Friendly Landscaping

Tavares – UF/IFAS Extension, Lake County is hosting the Homeowner Education Landscape Program (H.E.L.P.), a three class program that’s part of the Florida Friendly Landscaping Series. The nine-hour educational program will be held from 9 a.m. – noon on Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1, at the UF/IFAS Extension, Lake County Office, 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.

Participants are required to attend all three classes, which will address frequently asked questions and problems in the home landscape. The series is being offered to give participants classroom and hands-on training on how to calibrate a fertilizer spreader, install a micro-irrigation system, and select plant materials.

Participants will receive micro-irrigation supplies and a Plant Selection and Landscape Design Guide. The classes will be presented by UF/IFAS Extension & Residential Horticulture Agent, Brooke Moffis.
